SRFC How Are the Children

Caring adults are critical to youth development and healthy kids are critical to our communities and our future.

The relationships and experiences kids have in childhood and adolescence lay the foundation for outcomes that really matter:

  • Self-confidence
  • Sound mental health
  • Motivation to learn
  • Achievement in school
  • Knowing the difference between right and wrong
  • Having the capacity to sustain friendships
  • Being a successful parent

Research shows that even one caring person can change the trajectory of a child's life.

Positive attention from adults is something children crave--and it's a key ingredient in their development--as important as an essential vitamin.  Reliable, consistent, and engaged interaction with adults can transform a child's life.  For children growing up in environments that aren't reliable or supportive, caring adults provide an important buffering effect.

We are asking caring Suburban Ramsey County community members to take personal responsibility for contributing to our young people's healthy development.  This is about the future of our communities.  It's about making sure that Suburban Ramsey County is the kind of place where all our children grow up to be solid, decent citizens.

What you can do:

Show Kids They Matter by committing your time, energy, and/or resources to support the healthy, successful development of all kids.

Identify  at least five young people and get, and stay, involved in their lives

Share your story.  We're interested in hearing about the adults who made a difference in your lfe and the ways you're making a difference in kids' lives.
